Three 6 Mafia & Hypnotize Minds Covers
When Memphis's Three 6 Mafia linked up with Pen & Pixel Graphics, the result was a perfect marriage of sound and vision. The dark, menacing production style of DJ Paul and Juicy J found its visual counterpart in Pen & Pixel's chrome-dipped, horror-tinged album artwork.
Unlike the luxury-focused covers Pen & Pixel created for Master P and Cash Money, Three 6 Mafia's covers leaned into darker imagery - skulls, horror movie aesthetics, and an overall sense of danger that matched the group's devil-worshipping, serial-killer-obsessed lyrics. The signature Pen & Pixel chrome effects and stacked luxury cars were still there, but with a sinister Memphis twist.
Hypnotize Minds, the label founded by Three 6 Mafia, became a breeding ground for Memphis talent including Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, and La Chat. Each artist's Pen & Pixel covers maintained that distinctive Memphis sound translated into visual form - gritty, menacing, and dripping with chrome.
Below are the Pen & Pixel covers for Three 6 Mafia and the Hypnotize Minds family, spanning from their mid-90s underground classics to their early 2000s mainstream breakthrough:
